Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 811 AM EDT Fri Sep 16 2016 Valid 00Z Sat Sep 17 2016 - 00Z Sat Sep 24 2016 The upper level low/inverted trough initially passing over and west of the state will promote a wet pattern from now into the first part of the weekend. With only minor detail differences the GFS/ECMWF and GEFS mean agree on an axis of very high precipitable water values passing over the area, 2-2.25 inches or so which correspond to standardized anomalies that may reach or slightly exceed the 4-5 range. After Saturday expect a gradual but steady drier trend through midweek. By next Friday there is potential for some moisture originally associated with T.S. Orlene to begin moving into the eastern islands. There now appears to be somewhat better agreement on timing of this moisture, compared to yesterday when it was noted that the GFS was on the faster side. Overall expect trades to be in the moderate range. Winds may be slightly stronger from now into Sunday or Monday versus later in the period. Rausch
