Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 806 AM EDT Sat Nov 05 2016 Valid 00Z Sun Nov 06 2016 - 00Z Sun Nov 13 2016 Strong upper high to the WNW of the region (+2 sigma 500mb heights) will weaken in place near 25N/Dateline through early next week. Very deep troughing south of the Gulf of Alaska (-5 sigma 500mb heights) will drag the tail end of a cold front through Hawai'i Monday into Tuesday but with limited enhanced precipitation. Trades should increase near the frontal passage and then decrease late next week as the ensembles as upper ridging and a surface high builds into the area yet again. Another surge in moisture may approach the northwestern islands next Thursday into Friday as another low deepens well north of the region near 45N and the tail end of its front sinks southward, fighting the ridging overhead. The trend seems to be to hold the front farther north. Fracasso
