Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 718 AM EST Wed Jan 04 2017 Valid 00Z Thu Jan 05 2017 - 00Z Thu Jan 12 2017 A weakening cold front currently to the north of the region will continue to sink southward and bring scattered showers to the area through Friday and windward showers thereafter with trades from the north and northeast behind the boundary. The ensembles show heights building from the west next Monday/Tuesday which would support a drier pattern for the Aloha state. Trades will continue to veer to easterly next week as a surface high moves eastward along 30N. Another front may approach the NW islands around next Tuesday or Wednesday but the models diverge on how far southeast this may progress -- the 06Z GFS was more aggressive than the 00Z ECMWF. A model/ensemble consensus suggests the boundary would stay near 25N. Fracasso
