Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 652 AM EST Fri Feb 03 2017 Valid 00Z Sat Feb 04 2017 - 00Z Sat Feb 11 2017 A pair of cyclones move near the 35th parallel this period, bringing at least two cold fronts by the archipelago through Tuesday. The second system passing by Monday into Tuesday is the strongest and will be the main weather player this period, with a good tap of tropical moisture which increases precipitation chances across the region. Periods of heavy rainfall look likely, with gusty winds as well with the passage of the front. Winds veer back to north behind the boundary by Wednesday/Thursday which should quickly dry things out. A third boundary moving through the Papahanaumokuakea National Marine Monument Thursday and into next Friday should allow winds to become south to southwesterly across the main islands. Trade winds will prove elusive over the next seven days. Roth/Santorelli
