Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 803 AM EDT Thu Mar 16 2017 Valid 00Z Fri Mar 17 2017 - 00Z Fri Mar 24 2017 Latest models and ensemble means are fairly similar with the expected pattern over the next seven days. A weak cold front accompanied by only light rainfall will drift southeastward across the islands late this week into early weekend. Trailing high pressure will promote winds from the north or northeast during the weekend. Then by next week winds should turn more from the east as high pressure to the north of the state becomes more elongated. Finally a fast moving trailing surface high is forecast to reach a location northwest/north of the islands by next Friday. Through next week there may be some windward focused rainfall but with generally light amounts. Guidance expects precipitable water values to be within a half standard deviation of normal and the state should be under ridging aloft from Sunday through midweek. Rausch
