Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 808 AM EDT Fri Mar 17 2017 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 18 2017 - 00Z Sat Mar 25 2017 Guidance continues to agree well in showing the establishment and then persistence of a relatively dry trade pattern. A weak front with limited moisture currently drifting southeastward into the islands will continue its progression through the state over the next couple days. Trailing high pressure will then support northeasterly winds for a day or two. As the surface ridge north of the state takes on a more east-west orientation by early next week, expect trades to turn more easterly and remain from that direction through the rest of the week. Toward Thursday-Friday high pressure will be reinforced by a fast moving center originating from the western Pacific. Anticipate only light windward-focused rainfall during the period with precipitable water values staying fairly close to normal and a mid level ridge prevailing over the state from Sunday through Wednesday or Thursday.
