Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion...amended NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 259 PM EDT Sat Apr 01 2017 Valid 00Z Sun Apr 02 2017 - 00Z Sun Apr 09 2017 The guidance is in good agreement over the Hawaii domain through most of the forecast period, with both the EC mean and GEFS mean indicating a synoptic upper level ridge progressing slowly eastward across the region. The operational GFS and ECMWF are also in good agreement with their respective ensemble means during this time. The differences emerge near 40 degrees north, with the GEFS mean slower with the surface low tracking eastward north of Hawaii than the EC mean by the middle of next week. A weak front passes to the north of the islands Tuesday, but should not have any significant affect on the weather across the state. A second boundary passes north of the islands later in the weak. Given the frontal passages to the north, the ridge weakens some and the trade winds become weaker from Monday night into Thursday night, before freshening out of the northeast late Friday. Hamrick
