Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 809 AM EDT Mon Apr 03 2017 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 04 2017 - 00Z Tue Apr 11 2017 In most respects the latest guidance agrees well over the next seven days. An east-west ridge of high pressure to the north of the state will support moderate to brisk trades through the first half of the week with perhaps a slight weakening around Wednesday-Thursday. Then toward Friday-Saturday a stronger high center moving eastward to the north of 30N latitude may support a strengthening of trades. Expect trades to take on a more southeasterly orientation during the weekend into early next week as the high continues into the eastern Pacific and a front begins to approach northwest of the islands. There are some modest differences with the late period front to the northwest but the overwhelming majority of guidance keeps associated moisture beyond the northwestern islands. Most shower activity will be on the light side through the period and primarily focused over windward terrain. Precipitable water values should be around or a little below an inch into Friday-Saturday and then increase to the 1-1.25 inch range. A ridge aloft initially west of the state will move overhead Thursday-Friday and then continue to the east of the region as it weakens. Rausch
