Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 828 AM EDT Thu May 04 2017 Valid 00Z Fri May 05 2017 - 00Z Fri May 12 2017 Operational models and ensemble data continue to advertise a very stable pattern setting up for Hawaii. A rather strong 588dm upper ridge building across the state will be in the forecast picture through the upcoming weekend into much of next week to deliver a beautiful stretch of weather. Expect more traditional light to moderate trades with possible windward showers. By early next week, ensembles and operational guidance capture upper dynamics digging upstream in the mid-latitudes and potentially closing off aloft between 20-30N and 170-180W. Despite this feature to the west, the ridging appears to hold on but brisk southeasterly flow across the islands is possible with minimal shower activity. Musher
