Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 803 AM EDT Tue May 09 2017 Valid 00Z Wed May 10 2017 - 00Z Wed May 17 2017 Latest guidance is agreeable and consistent for the forecast pattern through next Tuesday. Expect winds to be light to moderate from the southeast initially, becoming somewhat stronger and more easterly late this week into early next week. This transition corresponds to fairly strong surface high pressure tracking well north of the state around midweek then settling over and drifting southeast from around 40N 150W. The combination of precipitable water values likely averaging in the 1.0-1.5 inch range and a persistent weakness aloft, around the periphery of a strong ridge well north of the area, may support pockets of heavier rainfall during the period. The majority of activity should focus over windward terrain but it is possible that some rain may occasionally reach other locales. Rausch
