Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 805 AM EDT Wed Jun 07 2017 Valid 00Z Thu Jun 08 2017 - 00Z Thu Jun 15 2017 A strong surface high, just northwest of the area initially, will slowly transition downstream to north of the islands for the upcoming weekend before reaching well northeast of the state next week. This will generally keep easterly flow and trades intact for most of the forecast. A very weak east to west cold front (or shear line) will drop south toward the state on Friday. As a result, a very narrow PW plume will reach the northern/northwestern portion of the islands, which could result in some enhanced shower activity especially near Kauai Friday into the the weekend. In fact, this elevated moisture content sort of lingers into early next week and some of the global models suggest a weakness at the surface or aloft perhaps forming which would increase shower activity for most of the state, but this is more uncertain. Otherwise expect isolated to scattered windward shower activity for the time being for the majority of Hawaii. Musher
