Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 756 AM EDT Sat Jun 17 2017 Valid 00Z Sun Jun 18 2017 - 00Z Sun Jun 25 2017 The forecast has not changed much for the next week, as a closed upper low and weakness between two very large subtropical ridges over the Pacific and currently near the western Islands will retrograde west before more general trades return. By doing so, a slightly elevated moisture pool over the state of 1.25" precipitable water values exist within the best upper difluence aloft. This may result in more shower activity than just the typical activity from mean easterly component and trades through Sunday/Monday. This feature aloft will then feel the influence from a digging upper trough approaching from the central Pacific to not only allow the vorticity to gain latitude but eventually merge/phase with the upper trough. This amplified upper trough will then eventually lift out from northwest of the islands and most of the global models allow light to moderate trades to return. Musher
