Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 825 AM EDT Tue Jul 25 2017 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 26 2017 - 00Z Wed Aug 02 2017 An upper ridge currently to the northeast of Hawai'i will continue to meander in place and slowly weaken over the next week, bridging across the region to the southwest. Ensembles forecast upper troughing to remain around the Dateline and by next week reinforced along 170W from the northeast. This should maintain modest trades for the rest of the week as the 1031mb surface high pressure weakens to about 1025mb this weekend. Precipitable water values are forecast to lower for the next couple of days in the wake of the remnants of Fernanda before rising again ahead of the future remnants of current tropical storm Greg, which is currently forecast to sink southwestward later this week to near 15N/150W and mostly be absorbed back into the ITCZ. The models indicate that the remnants of Greg and its associated moisture should stay south of the region. Therefore, for the next week, generally light to locally modest showers are expected through next Tuesday. Thereafter, hurricane Hilary may be approaching 140W from the east. Fracasso
