Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 758 AM EDT Sat Jul 29 2017 Valid 00Z Sun Jul 30 2017 - 00Z Sun Aug 06 2017 A weakness aloft, just west of the state, will retrograde westward over the next couple of days to gradually allow upper ridging to return. An associated deep plume of moisture over the islands, believed to be the tropical remnants of Greg, will slide south and west and depart the islands by Monday. This may result in increasing widespread showers and locally heavier rain over the weekend. Next week then, a drier and more typical forecast is expected, as upper ridging builds and easterly trades resume. An upper trough over the pacific will attempt to build south toward Hawaii along with a surface cold front but neither will reach the state. Overall the global models show good agreement with minimal spread over the next week. Musher
