Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 818 AM EDT Fri Sep 08 2017 Valid 00Z Sat Sep 09 2017 - 00Z Sat Sep 16 2017 Trades will decrease after today as the surface and upper high move northeastward away from the region. Precipitable water values are forecast to remain near to below average into early next week aside from brief rises especially over the Big Island. Models and ensembles still indicate an upper low splitting off from a trough moving into the Gulf of Alaska that will dip southward to near 30N/160W. Latest 06Z GFS and 00Z ECMWF agree well with their ensemble means and a consensus blend should suffice, which would keep the attendant surface boundary to the north of the region but may allow moisture to increase over the state from the south. Otherwise, generally a trade wind pattern will support light to locally modest showers. Fracasso
