Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 716 AM EST Thu Dec 28 2017 Valid 00Z Fri Dec 29 2017 - 00Z Fri Jan 05 2018 A cold front will push away from the islands later today, starting a drier trend for the region. Models and ensembles show heights building for the weekend into next week as the subtropical upper high sets up west of the area near the Dateline. This will support drier conditions with breezy trades from the northeast, veering to the east, as 1022-1024mb highs meander to the north and northeast of Hawai'i. Isolated to maybe scattered windward/mauka showers are expected with generally light accumulations. By the end of the period next Thursday, a trough is forecast to dip near but likely east of the region around 140-145W. Fracasso
