Ridging at the surface and aloft across the northeast Pacific will
support deep easterly flow across Hawaii through much of the next
week. A couple of relatively weak easterly waves are evident in
the guidance in the vicinity of Hawaii, the first of which should
drift westward across the state from Sun-Wed. The ECMWF/GFS/CMC
all close this feature off into an upper low just northwest of
Hawaii by next weekend. The second of these waves may perhaps
remain just to the north of Hawaii as the upper ridge weakens a
bit by late in the week in response to amplifying flow across the
North Pacific. Given the pattern, expect mostly windward showers
through much of the next week, with surface easterlies around 20
kt.
