Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 759 AM EDT Thu Aug 02 2018 Valid 00Z Fri Aug 03 2018 - 00Z Fri Aug 10 2018 The deep layer/warm core high pressure north of Hawai'i will strengthen this week. The 06Z GFS/00Z ECMWF/00Z CMC all show a TUTT low is expected to move over the Hawai'ian islands through the beginning of the period. This will bring an increased amount of moisture and higher chance of showers along the islands. By late Sunday night and into Monday, as the TUTT moves farther west and the ridge will move in, reducing the amount of moisture. Consequently, the chance of showers reduces. The 06Z GFS continues to bring the center of Hector into Hawai'i but remains the outlier. The 00Z ECMWF, UKmet, and CMC show Hector moving south of the islands. However, even with Hector being in the vicinity could increase the available moisture and enhance rain chances. Reinhart
