Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 830 AM EDT Tue Oct 09 2018 Valid 00Z Wed Oct 10 2018 - 00Z Wed Oct 17 2018 A moisture axis along an old front will continue to focus west of the islands as drier air slowly works into the state as trades slowly back from east to east-northeast. In this pattern, lingering moisture will support some windward/mauka showers over the next couple of days. Trades should weaken later week with gradual frontal approach that will lead to more of a daylight sea breeze and overnight land breeze pattern. Models and ensembles seem in a bit better agreement in showing deep closed low/trough development to the north of the state this weekend that will help drive the front underneath and force onset of deeper moisture and heavier precipitation threat for the state, with post-frontal conditions working in for early next week.
