Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 709 AM EST Wed Nov 21 2018 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 22 2018 - 00Z Thu Nov 29 2018 Today's guidance agrees well for the overall pattern evolution through the next seven days. High pressure initially to the northeast of the state will quickly settle to a position around 30N 130-140W. As a result expect trade winds to weaken over the coming days with potential for land/sea breezes to develop at times. Weak shortwave energy will approach from the west late this week, with some splitting off into a weak upper low well to the southwest of the area and the rest progressing along in the westerlies. An associated weakening surface front may provide some modest enhancement to shower activity but overall the rainfall should remain in the lighter half of the spectrum. Upper ridging to the west will begin to build into the region during the weekend and strengthen overhead during the first half of next week while precipitable water values decrease slightly, likely leading to a drier trend for the latter half of the forecast period.
