Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 730 AM EST Sun Dec 02 2018 Valid 00Z Mon Dec 03 2018 - 00Z Mon Dec 10 2018 Amplified mid-upper level trough passage to the north of the state has forced a cold front underneath across the islands this weekend. Deep layered high pressure settling north of the state in the wake of frontal passage should support modest trade return through midweek as residual moisture pooled along the stalled frontal remains linger near the state. Return moisture over the next few days is expected to fuel additional showers, especially for the southern islands. Amplified mid-upper level trough approach from the northwest Thursday may force another moisture/shower enhancing front into the islands late week as energy digs to the lee of a building mid-upper level ridge upstream over the subtropical west-central Pacific. Guidance is better clustered today and a composite solution is preferred. Schichtel
