Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 726 AM EST Tue Dec 04 2018 Valid 00Z Wed Dec 05 2018 - 00Z Wed Dec 12 2018 High pressure will settle across the state resulting in modest trade winds through the week. Some lingering moisture/showers could be possible on Tuesday, particularly for the Big Island, associated with a dying stationary front east of Hawai'i then drying out on Wednesday. Models indicate an upper level trough approaching the area by Thursday. This will bring the tail end of a front north of the islands Friday morning, pushing southward through the weekend. As a result, an increase in precipitation as well as breezy winds could be possible. By the beginning of next week, typical trade winds/windward favored showers will return as high pressure builds back into the area. Overall, models and their associated ensemble means are in good agreement for the overall pattern so prefer a composite solution. Reinhart
