Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 729 AM EST Tue Jan 08 2019 Valid 00Z Wed Jan 09 2019 - 00Z Wed Jan 16 2019 A trailing front is bringing an increase of preciptable water this morning across the northern Hawai'ian islands early this morning--which will bring slightly higher chances of rain and an increase in winds. The upper ridge will begin to retreat on Wednesday as a digging trough north of the area brings another frontal boundary north of the region on Thursday. Fluctuations in wind direction and speed can be expected in association with the frontal boundary today and Thursday. By the weekend, high pressure will return along with dry conditions. By Monday into Tuesday, trade wind induced showers will return to the area. By Tuesday night, high pressure will once again retreat as another frontal boundary approaches Hawai'i. Expect another round of increased chances of showers with this system. Reinhart
