Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 715 AM EST Sat Jan 19 2019 Valid 00Z Sun Jan 20 2019 - 00Z Sun Jan 27 2019 Weak high pressure will continue to slide eastward to the north of the region today as trades briefly resume. Another cold front will approach Kauai late Monday or early Tuesday as winds veer to southeasterly and southerly ahead of the front. Showers increase ahead of the front but ensembles and latest GFS/ECMWF suggest the majority of the rainfall will stay just north and west of the area as the upper trough pulls to the northeast. By the end of next week, heights will slowly rise and stabilize as the front dissipates to the north of the region and trades remain weak out of the east-southeast to east. With troughing forecast along 145W, Hawai'i should remain fairly quiet into next weekend though a boundary to the north may attempt to slip into the area. Fracasso
