Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 833 AM EDT Fri Mar 29 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Mar 30 2019 - 00Z Sat Apr 06 2019 Model guidance this morning generally agrees that Hawaii will remain on the southern periphery of mid-latitude upper-level troughs through next week, with the axis of the surface subtropical ridge periodically building along 25N. Moisture lingering around the tail end of a cold front should provide only isolated to scattered showers across the islands through the weekend. Models indicate a band of higher moisture will approach Hawaii from the southeast on Sunday. This band of moisture should bring more sustained periods of rain on Monday, especially over the Big Island. An upper-level trough should then begin to push the moisture farther to the east on Tuesday, gradually tapering of the rain. However, relatively high moisture content will appear to linger across the islands, promoting occasional showers over the Big Island into much of next week. It appears that the subtropical ridge will provide mostly fine weather for the central to western portion of the Hawaiian islands for much of next week. Kong
