Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 828 AM EDT Sat Jul 13 2019 Valid 00Z Sun Jul 14 2019 - 00Z Sun Jul 21 2019 A strong upper high to the northwest of the region (near 170W) will slide eastward over the next week to about 150W and weaken. This will allow easterly flow aloft to pass over Hawai'i with periods of showers and increasing trades as the surface high strengthens to about 1030mb early in the week. The GFS and ECMWF were generally the highest of their ensemble members with a forecast rise in precipitable water values early next week, with a range of about 0.75-1.75 inches. Timing theses surges has been inconsistent, but the consensus may be early in the week around Monday/Tuesday then again Thursday/Friday or so ahead of (or because of) remnant TD 4-E. Fracasso
