Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 821 AM EDT Sun Jul 14 2019 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 15 2019 - 00Z Mon Jul 22 2019 A strong upper high to the northwest of the region (near 165W) will slide eastward over the next week to about 145W and weaken. This will allow easterly flow aloft to pass over Hawai'i with periods of showers and increasing trades as the surface high strengthens to about 1031mb early in the week. The 06Z GFS and 00Z ECMWF forecast a rise in precipitable water values around 00Z Friday to about 1.75 inches (due in part to the remnants of TD 4-E), with better agreement among the ensembles compared to 24 hrs ago (in timing and strength). This will enhance shower activity on windward slopes for about 12-24 hrs as it passes by. Otherwise, precipitable water values near or slightly above average will favor a fairly typical trade wind pattern. Fracasso
