Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 819 AM EDT Thu Jul 25 2019 Valid 00Z Fri Jul 26 2019 - 00Z Fri Aug 02 2019 The weather pattern across Hawaii looks to remain relatively unchanged through the next week. A broad mid/upper-level weakness should remain in place across the state, with a surface high anchored north of the state, keeping 10-20 kt trades in place. An area of relatively deep moisture with a progression of surface troughs/easterly waves should remain just south of Hawaii, with one such wave passing just south of Hawaii Thu night-Fri, another Sun-Mon, and another by late next week. Each of these waves may provide a slight enhancement in shower activity across Hawaii, although the deepest moisture and most widespread showers should remain south of the state, at least with the first two of these systems. Models differ a bit more with respect to late next week, with the ECMWF showing a similar evolution to the first two waves, and the GFS taking the wave farther north and spreading deeper moisture across Hawaii. Additionally, some slight enhancement of the trades will be possible as each wave passes, with gusts of 30 kt possible at times. Ryan
