Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 819 AM EDT Sat Aug 03 2019 Valid 00Z Sun Aug 04 2019 - 00Z Sun Aug 11 2019 ...Tropical Storms Erick and Flossie... The Central Pacific Hurricane Center is monitoring two tropical storms, Erick and Flossie. Erick will continue to weaken then dissipate this weekend while passing well south of the Hawaiian Islands. Erick no longer offers a direct threat to the islands. Tropical Storm Flossie is forecast to approach the Big Island Sunday/Monday before passing just to the north of the state Monday/Tuesday while weakening. System proximity may bring some enhanced weather impacts to the state. This will include potential for heavier rainfalls into favored island terrain as increased south to southwest flow underneath Flossie pumps deepened moisture inland. Erick and Flossie also offer a maritime high wind/seas hazard. Expect a return to moderate trades in the wake of Erick and Flossie as high pressure settles to the northeast of the state, with heaviest shower potential over windward terrain for the remainder of next week.
