Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 756 AM EDT Fri Aug 09 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Aug 10 2019 - 00Z Sat Aug 17 2019 Models and ensembles continue to show no meaningful discrepancies for the seven-day forecast period. From now into the weekend the main islands will see light to moderate trades with some locations possibly seeing land/sea breeze influences. Trades will be a little stronger during the first half of next week as eastern Pacific high pressure begins to build and expand while a surface trough near the northwestern islands departs/dissipates. Expect trades to strengthen further after early Wednesday as strong high pressure dominates an increasing portion of the Pacific. Precipitable water values will likely be somewhat above normal into the weekend and then decline to near or below average for most of next week, aside from a possible slight increase late in the week. Most rainfall should be light given the upper ridging over the area and lower trends for moisture, while the stronger trades will lead to more windward focus for any rain that does occur. Rausch
