A strengthening upper high to the northwest of the region will
bridge across the mid-latitudes, allowing an upper low to push
westward along 27N later this week to the north of Hawai'i. 00Z
GFS/ECMWF/Canadian align well with this feature. Breezy trades are
expected Tue-Thu as the surface pressure gradient increases in
advance of the upper low. As the upper low passes by to the west,
a frontal boundary will dip toward Kauai with a slight increase in
shower activity. Windward/mauka areas over the rest of the islands
may see more showers as the brief (24-36 hrs) increase in moisture
passes through. By the weekend into next Monday, upper high will
be realigned to the northeast of the area with a typical trade
wind pattern.
