Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 814 AM EDT Wed Oct 16 2019 Valid 00Z Thu Oct 17 2019 - 00Z Thu Oct 24 2019 Today's guidance agrees quite well for the overall pattern through the next seven days. An axis of enhanced deep moisture along with an upper level weakness and surface trough initially over the main islands will move to the west, yielding a drier trend for the rest of the week and beyond. Another pocket of relatively higher precipitable water values may brush the Big Island this weekend but upper ridging should be sufficient for it not to generate much of an increase in rainfall. A surface high initially to the north of the state will track into the eastern Pacific by the start of next week, with moderate to brisk trades weakening a bit and becoming east-southeasterly. Moderate trades should then continue into midweek. Expect showers to focus over windward and mountain areas for most of the period. Rausch
