Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 802 AM EDT Fri Oct 18 2019 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 19 2019 - 00Z Sat Oct 26 2019 For the next few days mostly agreeable and consistent guidance shows moderate to brisk trades, with occasional variation in strength, turning east-southeasterly as high pressure initially to the north-northeast of the state settles into the eastern Pacific. Generally light to perhaps locally moderate showers will favor windward areas though rain could stray to other locations once in a while. Modest enhancement of shower activity may occur during the weekend and into Monday as a pocket of higher precipitable water crosses the area. Heavier rainfall associated with this moisture should remain to the south of the Big Island though. Trades may weaken somewhat during the latter half of next week as a front approaches from the northwest. Compared to the full range of guidance, the 00Z CMC and 06Z GFS become more amplified with the supporting upper trough by Thursday-Friday. As a result those solutions may push the front a little too far southeastward at that time. Rausch
