Brisk trade winds this weekend should trend weaker and begin to
veer towards the east-southeast on Monday as a cold front dives
southward towards Hawaii. Models and ensembles agree that this
cold front eventually stalls by mid-week somewhere near or just to
the northwest of Kauai. This is expected to bring increased rain
chances and possible locally heavy rainfall to the westernmost
islands. Elsewhere, expect more widespread showers, favoring
windward and mountain locations. As the frontal boundary
dissipates and high pressure builds north and east of the state, a
more typical trade wind pattern should return by next weekend.
