Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 308 AM EST Thu Jan 16 2020 Valid 00Z Fri Jan 17 2020 - 00Z Fri Jan 24 2020 Cold front to the northwest of the region will push through Hawai'i Friday with an enhanced area of showers. Hi-res models show local areas of 0.5-1.5 inches of rain with the frontal passage. Light trades today will increase to breezy behind the front out of the NNE to NE through about next Monday as a surface high slides eastward just south of 30N over the weekend. Models/ensembles generally show below normal precipitable water values post-FROPA (around an inch or less) so windward/mauka showers are expected to be generally light. With differences in how quickly to raise heights next week, a blend between the GFS/ECMWF seemed to suffice. Fracasso
