Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 242 AM EST Sat Feb 01 2020 Valid 00Z Sun Feb 02 2020 - 00Z Sun Feb 09 2020 An upper level low sliding northeast of the state will continue to bring increased showers through the weekend to parts of the Hawaiian islands. Normal trade winds should also resume this weekend as surface high pressure builds well to the north and northeast of Hawaii and persists into the first half of the week. Trades should shift to the southeast ahead of another upper low diving southward towards the state. There is good model agreement that this trough/low will drive a cold front across the islands next Wednesday into Thursday. Both the GFS and ECMWF indicate moisture will increase ahead of the front, resulting in scattered to widespread showers and a couple of thunderstorms. Conditions should dry out following the frontal passage, but gusty northerly winds will continue into next weekend. Santorelli
