Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 243 AM EST Sun Feb 02 2020 Valid 00Z Mon Feb 03 2020 - 00Z Mon Feb 10 2020 A normal trade wind pattern can be expected across Hawaii to begin the work week, with some mainly windward showers expected as an upper trough lingers over/east of the island chain. By Tuesday, trades should shift out of the southeast ahead of the next system. There continues to be decent model agreement that an upper trough/low will drive a cold front down the island chain next Wednesday into Thursday. With ample moisture availability ahead of the front (as per the ECMWF and the GFS), this should result in scattered to widespread showers and few thunderstorms. Conditions should dry out following the frontal passage, but gusty northerly winds will continue through next weekend as the upper level system lingers to the northeast. Santorelli
