Upper heights will lower Sunday as a trough to the northwest of
Hawai'i pushes eastward with its attendant surface front
approaching Kauai early Monday. This may slip through Oahu/Molokai
and dissipate next week with generally light showers as
precipitable water values fluctuate around an inch and heights
rise. By Tuesday into Wednesday, upper ridging will build
along/east of 180 which may help tug some troughing back westward
from around 140W. The ECMWF was most aggressive with such a
solution while the GFS/Canadian kept any troughing weaker. Though
a sharper trough may enhance rainfall late in the week, a return
to more typical trades around the middle of the week should mainly
support light to locally modest showers.
