Upper trough amplification to the northwest of the state will hold
an enhanced moisture axis close to the northwestern islands this
weekend, but associated rainfall should be much lighter than
recent activity with the exited Kona low. Weakened trade flow is
expected to build to brisk trades next week as the southward drift
of Pacific high pressure strengthens the gradient over the state.
Drier air moves in, so mainly windward/mountain-focused showers
should be limited. Rainfall potential may increase heading into
next weekend as models/ensemble means agree upon a decrease in
heights aloft as the upper ridge to the north of the state weakens
in response to digging trough energies.
