Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 227 AM EDT Sun Mar 22 2020 Valid 00Z Mon Mar 23 2020 - 00Z Mon Mar 30 2020 Hawaiian trades are expected to build to brisk levels for the coming week as the southward drift of Pacific high pressure strengthens the gradient over the state. Drier air moves in, so daily windward/mountain-focused showers should be limited. Rainfall potential should gradually increase late week into next weekend as a favored composite of models and ensembles show decreasing heights aloft as the upper ridge to the north of the state weakens in response to digging trough energies. Lower atmospheric inverted troughing may also develop over the state in this pattern, so trades may gradually shift more southeastward and eventually tap deeper moisture. Schichtel
