Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 259 AM EDT Mon Mar 23 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Mar 24 2020 - 00Z Tue Mar 31 2020 Models and ensembles reasonably agree that Hawaiian trades will build to brisk levels this week as the southward drift of potent Pacific high pressure strengthens the gradient over the state. Drier air filters in, so daily windward/mountain-focused showers should be limited into late week. Rainfall potential should gradually increase by next weekend as a favored composite of models and ensembles show decreasing heights aloft as the upper ridge to the north of the state weakens in response to digging trough energies. Lower atmospheric inverted troughing may also begin to develop over the state by then, so trades could tend to ease, veer and increasingly tap deeper moisture. Schichtel
