Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 310 AM EDT Tue Mar 24 2020 Valid 00Z Wed Mar 25 2020 - 00Z Wed Apr 01 2020 Guidance reasonably agrees in support of brisk island trades this week as strong high pressure settles to the north of the state. A drier airmass suggests that daily windward/mountain-focused showers should be limited into late week. Rainfall potential should gradually increase by the weekend as a favored composite of models and ensembles show decreasing heights aloft as the upper ridge to the north of the state weakens in response to digging trough energies. Lower atmospheric inverted troughing is expected to develop over the state as high pressure shifts into the eastern Pacific and as an upper trough/low settles near Hawaii. Trades will tend to ease, veer and increasingly tap deeper shower fueling moisture in this scenario, especially into the eastern islands early next week. Schichtel
