Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 327 AM EDT Wed Mar 25 2020 Valid 00Z Thu Mar 26 2020 - 00Z Thu Apr 02 2020 Brisk island trades will prevail over the next couple of days in tight pressure gradients underneath strong high pressure to the north of the state. A relatively dry airmass suggests that daily windward/mountain-focused showers should be limited. Rainfall potential will increase Friday through the weekend as a favored guidance composite decreases heights aloft as an upper ridge to the north of the state weakens in response to digging trough energies. Lower atmospheric inverted troughing will develop over the state as high pressure shifts more into the eastern Pacific and as upper trough and possible closed low energies settle over Hawaii and increase instability. Trades should tend to veer and tap deeper moisture to fuel widespread showers/thunderstorms that may linger into early next week, especially across the eastern islands. Schichtel
