Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 219 AM EDT Fri Apr 10 2020 Valid 00Z Sat Apr 11 2020 - 00Z Sat Apr 18 2020 The weakened remnants of a cold front are expected to drift across the state on Friday, with PWs sufficient for scattered windward showers. By the weekend, models and ensembles continue to show good agreement on an upper level low developing well north of the state, and the approach of another cold front towards the islands. Guidance suggests the axis of deepest moisture associated with this feature should remain primarily east of Hawaii, though showers may be present across eastern portions of the state as the front stalls across the region. By the middle of next week, as the upper level system pulls away, models show consensus that upper ridging from the west-central Pacific should begin to build back east across Hawaii. As the resulting surface high pressure builds north of the state, this should allow for resumption of more typical light to moderate trade winds which are expected to continue through the remainder of next week.
