Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 216 AM EDT Mon Apr 13 2020 Valid 00Z Tue Apr 14 2020 - 00Z Tue Apr 21 2020 A stalled frontal boundary combined with upper level troughing will continue to bring showers and a few thunderstorms to Hawaii during the first half of this week. Locally moderate to heavy showers are possible as deeper moisture gets pulled over the islands ahead of another front passing to the north Tuesday and Wednesday. From Thursday through at least the weekend, models agree that the forecast should dry out as the upper level system pulls away and ridging builds back east across the state. As the resulting surface high pressure builds to the north, this should allow for resumption of more typical light to moderate trade winds. By early next week, another cold front may begin to approach the islands, which should shift the low level winds to a more south/southeasterly direction ahead of the front. Santorelli
