Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 331 AM EDT Sat May 23 2020 Valid 00Z Sun May 24 2020 - 00Z Sun May 31 2020 Latest models and ensemble means provide similar forecasts through the next seven days. Trades will weaken somewhat from the weekend into the first half of next week as a front that will stall northwest of the state pushes a weakening surface ridge closer to the islands. The Big Island should see a more persistent trade flow but other areas may see a period of sea/land breeze influence on showers. Consensus shows high pressure rebuilding north of the state during the latter half of the week, helping to restore moderate trades across the state. An upper ridge initially to the northwest will likely settle over the area by early in the week. This ridge should strengthen after midweek. An area of moisture crossing the state this weekend may promote some shower enhancement. Otherwise the forecast pattern and precipitable water values tending to be below climatology should keep any showers fairly light through the end of next week. Rausch
