Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 339 AM EDT Wed May 27 2020 Valid 00Z Thu May 28 2020 - 00Z Thu Jun 04 2020 Expect the return of a more typical trade pattern with mostly windward focused showers as high pressure begins to build north of the state around midweek. Over the course of the next seven days, high pressure/surface ridging will evolve in strength and position from day to day but overall should support maintenance of moderate to locally brisk trades through at least the middle of next week. A strong ridge aloft will promote fairly light rainfall totals in most cases at least through most of the weekend. After significant spread in recent days, latest GFS trends toward faster arrival of an area of greater deep moisture from the northeast around late Sunday-Monday have yielded much better model/ensemble agreement today. Some of this enhanced moisture may linger over the area into Tuesday-Wednesday. The combination of this added moisture and heights aloft possibly declining a bit compared to when ridging is overhead late week/weekend could allow for at least some modest rainfall enhancement during the first half of next week.
