Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 330 AM EDT Thu May 28 2020 Valid 00Z Fri May 29 2020 - 00Z Fri Jun 05 2020 Today's guidance shows very good agreement for the overall forecast through next Thursday. High pressure north of the state will vary in shape and location from day to day but maintain support for moderate to possibly occasional brisk trades along with a general windward/mountain emphasis for showers. The combination of a ridge aloft and relatively modest moisture should keep rainfall amounts light from late this week into the weekend. As a stronger upper high tracks to the northwest of the main islands and settles to the north, the deep-layer flow around the high will bring an area of enhanced moisture (precipitable water values 1.50 inch or greater) into the state from the northeast starting late Sunday or soon thereafter. Moisture should remain above climatology through midweek with a decreasing trend by next Thursday. With the added moisture anticipate somewhat higher rainfall totals in the Monday-Wednesday time frame. Rausch
