Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 343 AM EDT Wed Jul 01 2020 Valid 00Z Thu Jul 02 2020 - 00Z Thu Jul 09 2020 Today's guidance offers little change in the forecast, with a trade wind pattern providing the best shower focus to windward/mountain areas and a little rainfall straying to other locations at times. Consensus shows moderate to brisk trades as of midweek trending somewhat lighter during the latter half of the week, followed by a trend back toward moderate/brisk strength during the first half of next week as high pressure well north of the state expands southward/southwestward. While differences persist for the specifics there is decent agreement in principle for rainfall to increase somewhat in the Friday-Sunday period as an area of higher precipitable water values crosses the region. Then showers will likely trend somewhat lighter during the first half of the week as drier air moves in. Models/means still advertise an upper weakness over the area early next week but suggest this will have less of an influence on rainfall than the decrease in moisture. Then heights aloft should gradually rise by midweek. Rausch
