Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 227 AM EDT Sun Aug 23 2020 Valid 00Z Mon Aug 24 2020 - 00Z Mon Aug 31 2020 Light to moderate trades are expected to persist across Hawaii over the next week. A broad upper-level weakness is forecast continue drifting slowly westward, eventually moving away from Hawaii over the next couple days. Scattered windward showers are expected through this time frame, supported by PWs in the 1.20-1.50 inch range. By mid to late this week, a somewhat drier air mass (PWs in the 1.1-1.3 inch range) is expected to spread across Hawaii, as ensembles show consensus that upper-level ridging should build across the state. This should lead to fairly sparse shower activity through late in the week and through next weekend. In general, model/ensemble solutions were comparable through the next week, with no major differences noted. Ryan
